Abstract:
Indian economy is witnessing stellar growth over the last few years. There have been rapid developments in infrastructural and business front during the growth period.Internet adoption among Indians has been increasing over the last one decade.Indian banks have also risen to the occasion by offering new channels of delivery to their customers.Internet banking is one such new channel which has become available to Indian customers.Customer acceptance for internet banking has been good so far.In this study the researcher tried to conduct a qualitative and quantitative investigation of internet banking customer acceptance among Indians. The researcher tried to identify important factors that affect customer's behavioral intention for internet banking .The researcher also proposes a research model which has extended from Technology Acceptance Model for predicting internet banking acceptance. The findings of the study would be useful for Indian banks in planning and upgrading their internet banking service.Banks could increase internet banking adoption by making their customer awareness about the usefulness of the service. It is seen that from the study that the variable perceived usefulness has a positive influence on internet banking use, therefore internet banking acceptance would increase when customers find it more usefulness.Banks should plan their marketing campaigns taking into consideration this factor.Proper marketing communications which would increase consumer awareness would result in better acceptance of internet banking. The variable perceived ease of use had a positive influence on internet banking use. That means customers would increase internet banking usage when they find it easier to use.Banks should therefore try to develop their internet banking site and interface easier to use.Banks could also consider providing practical training sessions for customers at their branches on usage of internet banking interface.

Abstract:
The present study entitled ‘Inter-State Variations in Manufacturing
Productivity and Technological Changes in India’ covers a period of 38 years from l960 tol998-99. The study is mainly based on ASI data. The study starts with a discussion of the major facilitating factors of industrialization, namely, historical forces, public policy and infrastructure facilities. These are discussed in greater details in the context of our discussion on Perrox’s (1998) ‘growth pole’ and ‘development pole’, Hirschman’s (1958) ‘industrial centers’ and Myrdal’s ‘spread effect’ Most of the existing literature more or less agrees that the process of
industrialization has not been unifonn in all Indian states. There has been a decline in inter-state industrial disparities over time. This aspect is dealt at some length in the third chapter. An important element that deserves detailed attention is the intra-regional differences in industrialisation. Regional industrialisation implies the emergence of a few focal points and industrial regions. Calcutta, Bombay and Madras were the initial focal points. Later other centers like Bangalore, Amritsar, Ahemedabad etc. emerged as nodal points in other states. All major states account for focal points. The analysis made in the third chapter shows that industrial activities generally converge to one or two focal points and industrial regions have emerged out of the focal points in almost all states. One of the general features of these complexes and regions is that they approximately accommodate
50 to 75 percent of the total industrial units and workers in the state. Such convergence is seen hands in glow with urbanization. It was further seen that intra-regional industrial disparity comes down in industrial states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

Abstract:
The thesis entitled Inventory Management In Public Sector Electrical Industry In Kerala. Investigations were carried out on inventory management in public sector electrical industry in Kerala and suggest methods to improve their efficiency. Various aspects of inventory management, its scope and need in industry are detailed. The objectives of the present study concentrates to get an overall view of the system of inventory management, assess the positions and levels of inventory. It analyzes the inventory management policies and practices, the organizational set-up for materials by the electrical undertakings. The study examines the liquidity of the electrical undertakings as well as techniques of inventory management in the electrical industry in Kerala. Hypotheses state that the existing organizational systems and practices are inadequate to ensure efficient management of inventories in electrical industry. Introduction of scientific inventory techniques has a favourable effect on the workings of inventory departments. The financial performance of the public sector electrical undertakings is not at all satisfactory on account of the high raw material costs, heavy borrowings and huge interest burdens. The scope of this study is limited to the assessment of savings, in inventories of electrical products due to inventory management. The methodology of the study is to project the cost reduction of the inventory department on the basis of data collected and to validate this projection with the aid of analysis and survey. The limitations of the study is that the data obtained relate to the period 1989-90 and earlier and the current position is not available and uniform norms cannot be applied to evaluate different inventory management organisation.

Abstract:
Several related articles have appeared ix: journals
and dailies, covering mainly the advantages and
disadvantages of leasing. Some have focussed on the
leasing scenario in India while others projected the
prospects of leasing. However, there are some research
articles worth mentioning. An exploratory study done by
R. Narayana Swamy expresses -the views of leasing companies, on lease accounting issues in India. It deals
only with several aspects of accounting regulation,
accounting standard setting, accounting proposals and
implications and economic consequences of the proposals
for leasing companies and for lessees and users of
financial statamnts. Another article dealing with the
growth and performance of leasing industry by Rita
Vasanls gives just a peripheral view of the performance of
leasing companies. Hence an indepth study is attempted to
analyse the leasing industry in India, in all its
manifestations

Abstract:
The study is intended to estimate the existing rate of
participation of women beneficiaries in the development
programmes of different organisations in Kerala. It would
enable one to understand whether participation is at the
satisfactory level or not. Given the rate of participation,
the major thrust of the analysis is on the impact of
governmental and non-governmental organisations on the rate of
participation. This is undertaken under the assumption that
NGOs, due to their proximity to people and their needs, ensure
better participation rates. Besides the organisational
differences, the other major determinants of women
participation such as their socio-economic characteristics,
psychological make up, the nature of the programme etc. are also highlighted. 0 Since the ascribed status of women in
society is inferior, the role of organisers, development
personnel and local leaders is also pointed out. Thus the
basic objective of the study is women participation and its
determinants in the development programmes

Abstract:
Economists consider education as an investment in man. Education develops human resources necessary for the economic and political growth of any nation. Adam Smith stressed the importance of education and included the acquired and useful activities of all the inhabitants or members of society in his concept of fixed capital.‘ Karl Marx shared with Smith's view when he laid down that the function of education in a socialist society will be to overcome the alienation of the worker from the means of production; while developing the technical skill it will make him a complete man as well as a producer.2 Education is also considered as a powerful instrument for social change. By inculcating moral and spiritual values, it brings changes both in the individual and in the society. It aims at creating a social order founded on the values of freedom, social justice and equal opportunity.3 The objective of this exploratory study is to enquire into the existing system of managing higher educational institutions in Kerala, compare it with the accepted principles of management believed to be applicable to all organisations, and develop a model capable of introducing more effective management practices

Abstract:
The general objective of the study is to examine in depth the organisation and management practices of newspaper industry in Kerala with particular reference to the marketing aspects, with a View to suggesting measures for improving the economics and the managerial efficiency of the industry. The detailed investigation into the management aspects of the industry is done with particular reference to the two most popular Malayalam dailies in Kerala, namely, the Malayala Manorama and the Mathrubhumi. The purposeful selection of these two papers for the study is amply justified as these two dailies together account for about 80 percent of the total circulation of the newspapers in Kerala. Technically speaking, both these papers are owned by organisations registered as public limited companies and are, to a large extent professionally managed. The Malayala Manorama, though a public limited company in principle, functions, however, more or less as a private company or a family concern. These two papers therefore provide a scope for studying the management of newspaper industry practically under two different organisational set up, namely private limited company and public limited company The study has been divided into eight chapters. Chapter-I spells out an introduction about the newspaper industry and its unique features.Chapter-II, deals with a review of literature, objective, scope, methodology and limitations of the study. Chapter-III deals with origin, growth and status of newspaper industry. Chapter—IV examines the cost, revenue and profitability of the Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi. Chapter-V deals with the Organisation and Management. Chapter-VI examines the Marketing Management of Newspapers. Chapter-VII deals with the Marketing Strategy and Performance of Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi: An Assessment. Chapter-VIII presents the main findings of the study.

Abstract:
An efficient passenger road transport system
is a boon to any city and an inefficient one its bane.
Passenger bus transport operation involves various
aspects like passenger convenience, profitability of
operation and social, technological and environmental
factors. The author’s interest in this area was aroused
when he conducted a traffic survey of Trivandrum City
in 1979. While some studies on the performance of the
Kerala State Road Transport Corporation in specific
areas like finance, inventory control etc. have already
been made, no study has been made from the operational
point of view. The study is also the first one of its
kind in dealing with the transportation problems for a
second order city like Trivandrum. The objective of
this research study is to develop a scientific basis
for analysing and understanding the various operational
aspects of urban bus transport management like
assessing travel demand, depot location, fleet
allocation, vehicle scheduling, maintenance etc. The
operation of public road transportation in Trivandrum
City is analysed on the basis of this theoretical
background. The studies made have relevance to any
medium sized city in India or even abroad.
If not properly managed, deterioration of any
public utility system is a natural process and it
adversely affects the consumers, the economy and the
nation. Making any system more efficient requires
careful analysis, judicious decision making and proper
implementation. It is hoped that this study will throw
some light into the various operational aspects of
urban passenger road transport management which can be
of some help to make it perform more efficiently

Abstract:
Traffic Management system (TMS) comprises four major sub systems: The Network Database Management system for information to the passengers, Transit Facility Management System for service, planning, and scheduling vehicle and crews, Congestion Management System for traffic forecasting and planning, Safety Management System concerned with safety aspects of passengers and Environment. This work has opened a rather wide frame work of model structures for application on traffic. The facets of these theories are so wide that it seems impossible to present all necessary models in this work. However it could be deduced from the study that the best Traffic Management System is that whichis realistic in all aspects is easy to understand is easy to apply As it is practically difficult to device an ideal fool—proof model, the attempt here has
been to make some progress-in that direction.

Abstract:
The primary focus of this study was to asses the impact of selected
antecedent variables namely Psychological Empowerment at Work (PEW),
Psychological Contract Violation (PCV), Work Life Balance (WLB), Job
Satisfaction (JS) and Affective Organisational Commitment (AOC) on
Managerial Performance (MP) of middle level managers of private sector
manufacturing and service sector organisations in Kerala. The study brings out the significance of Job Attitudes namely Job
Satisfaction and Affective Organisational Commitment in meaningfully
explaining the linkage between the rest of the antecedent variables in the
study and Managerial Performance. The study interestingly revealed that
Job Attitudes play a mediating role in explaining performance of managers
unlike visualised in the initial conceptual framework. The study points to
the importance of taking care of job attitudes in the work place to ensure performance of managers. The result of the study also brings out the
significance of maintaining work-life balance especially in service sector
organisations because it will have a direct impact on the level of
performance of managers than most of the other contextual factors. Hence,
it is the responsibility of HR department to initiate activities which are
customised to the collective aspirations of the members of respective
organisations to ensure positive job attitudes. HR departments should
advice and convince the top management to provide resource support and
endorsement to such initiatives.

Abstract:
The small business has attracted very little attention of the historians in
the ancient times, or public mind inspite of the fact that its impact on the
various civilisations has been phenominal. Even in recent times economists
considered the small firms as inappropriate, obselate and anacronistic as it
cannot assimilate the full potential of technological change in the
production system. But today everybody agrees that the small business has
a definite role in shaping the human destiny and enhancing the quality of
life in any society. In a developing country like India small firms are
necessary to generate employment for millions, high standared of personal
choice to consumers, provide competition and act as a check to monopoly
power; further the small firms provide an important source of innovation
and in turn it paves the way for entrepreneur development in the society.
In many countries the small enterprises played a significant role in the
growth and development of their economic system. Italy and Japan are
quoted as classic examples . In India, too, with the abundance of labour and scarce capital resources small firms have been promoted and protected by the government. But one must say that the small firm owners/managers in India have been shy in developing a market orientation in themeselves. Due to this many firms failed and closed. The alarming rate of sickness among the small firms in
India may be attributed to the lack of market driven/customer orientation
approach among the owner/managers of small business. So the study on the
market oreintation of the small firms has never been in the mind of
marketing experts and academicians. Thus, an attempt is made to enquire
into them systematically and scientifically. For the study, Trivandrum
district in Kerala has been selected. The data for the study has been
collected by the help of a schedule which has been prepared after consulting
the relevant literature and after consultation with experts in the field,
academicians and practising managers.
