Abstract:
Information communication technology (IC T) has invariably brought about
fundamental changes in the way in which libraries gather. preserve and disseminate
information. The study was carried out with an aim to estimate and compare the
information seeking behaviour (ISB) of the academics of two prominent universities of
Kerala in the context of advancements achieved through ICT.
The study was motivated by the fast changing scenario of libraries with the
proliferation of many high tech products and services. The main purpose of the study
was to identify the chief source of information of the academics, and also to examine
academics preference upon the form and format of information source. The study also
tries to estimate the adequacy of the resources and services currently provided by the
libraries. The questionnaire was the central instrument for data collection. An almost census method was adopted for data collection engaging various methods and tools for
eliciting data. The total population of the study was 957, out of which questionnaire was distributed to 859 academics. 646 academics responded to the survey, of which 564 of them were sound responses. Data was coded and analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software and also with the help of Microsofl Excel package. Various statistical techniques were engaged to analyse data. A paradigm shift is evident by the fact that academies push themselves towards information in internet i.e. they prefer electronic source to traditional source and the very shift is coupled itself with e-seeking of information. The study reveals that ISB of the academics is influenced priman'ly by personal factors and comparative analysis shows that the ISB ofthc academics is similar in both universities. The productivity of the academics was tested to dig up any relation with respect to their ISB, and it is found that productivity of the academics is extensively related with their ISB. Study also reveals that the users ofthe library are satisfied with the services provided but not with the sources and in conjunction, study also recommends ways and means to improve the existing library system.

Abstract:
The study is designed to gather, record, analyse and critically evaluate
data on natural rubber production, consumption and marketing in Kerala. The
scope of the study also covers the processing of natural rubber by rubber growers,
especially small growers. Taking into consideration Kerala’s supremacy in natural
rubber cultivation, a detailed study of marketing channels of natural rubber in Kerala,
by giving special reference to co-operative rubber marketing has been given
importance. Attempt has also been made to collect secondary data of the last 15
years

Abstract:
This is a descriptive and analytical study. It investigates
how Fertilisers are marketed in India. It describes and evaluates the
system of fertiliser marketing prevalent in the country at the time
of this study (1979-82). The study, as the title will indicate, has
been conceived on a large canvass and in very broad and generalised
terms. Such a large framework has been chosen with the intention of
investigating the task of Fertiliser marketing in its totality

Abstract:
The main benefit of Jeevan Saathi policy is that, it is a joint
life policy which covers the life of both husband and wife under a
single policy. And they also get double benefit if any one of them
dies during the term of the policy. The Jeevan Mitra policy is a
single life policy, the main advantage of which is that the dependents
get double benefit in case of normal death and triple benefit in case
of accidental death during the term of policy.
so both the policies have their own attractions but when compared
with the annual sales of other policies, the additional increase in
the sales of these policies are decreasing. It is a fact finding
study concerned with market performance of these two policies by conducting
a survey among the Jeevan Saathi and Jeevan Mitra policy
holders, and a thorough analysis of the various information or data
collected from them. This study is an attempt to present an integrated
picture of the main features of the policy holders who have
bought these policies, the major factors responsible for making them
purchase these policies, the various difficulties faced by them at present and further modification needed in the plans of these policies
according to the opinion of policy holders. For increasing accuracy
of the conclusions, information is also collected from Agents and
Development Officers by using interview schedule.
The main purpose of this study is to draw attention of LIC to
introduce new plans of policies taking into consideration the drawbacks
or defects of the existing policies and present needs of policy
holders. It will also help to make new plans in order to suit the
needs of more people who want to buy life insurance policies

Abstract:
With the increase in population, housing and construction of various facilities have been a problem with urbanization. Having exhausted all the trouble free hand, man is nowon the lookout for techniques to improve areas which were originally considered uninhabitable. Thus this study is based on the nature and engineering behavior of soft clays covering long stretches of coastal line and methods to improve their geotechnical properties .The main aim of the present investigation is to study in detail the physical and engineering behavior of the marine clays of Cochin. While it is well known that the marine clays have been posing numerous problems to foundation engineers all along, the relevant literature reveals that no systematic and comprehensive study has been attempted to date. The: knowledge gained through the study is suitably used to improve these properties with appropriate additives.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with the preparation and properties of two compounds of V-II family, viz.
bismuth telluride and bismuth oxide, in thin filmform. In the first chapter is given the resume of
basic solid state physics relevant to the work reported here. In the second chapter the different
methods of thin film preparationtia described. Third chapter deals with the experimental techniques used for preparation and characterization of the films. Fourth chapter deals with the preparation and propertiesof bismuth telluride films. In next four chapters, the preparation and properties of bismuth oxide films are discussed in detail. In the last chapter the use of Bi205 films in the fabrication of Heat mirrors is examined and discussed.

Abstract:
With the advent of urbanisation and consequent
search for more and more habitable land, it was imperative
that the large tracts of marine clays, considered inhabitable
earlier, had to be reclaimed and developed. These marine
clays, wellknown for its high compressibility and poor shear
strength, posed numerous problems to the builders and Cochin
was no exception. It is only less than a decade since active
research work was initiated on marine clays in general and
Cochin marine clays in particular. Eventhough some systematic
studies are available on compressibility characteristics,
attempts to study the shear strength aspects and development
of techniques to improve it have been very limited. This work
is an investigation on the consolidation and shear strength
characteristics of Cochin marine clays including methods to
improve the same

Abstract:
. The cotton mill industry is one of the important medium and
large-scale industries in the State of Kerala. Due to the widespread
development of the handloom industry in the State, there is an environment
conducive to the growth of cotton spinning mills which produce
yarn, the raw material required by the handloom industry. New spin—
ing mills are being commissioned. But the performance of the existing
cotton spinning and weaving mills in the State is not quite satisfactory.
Hence an analysis has been carried out into the profitability
and financial position of the industry in Kerala. The objective
of the study is to make a financial analysis of the industry covering
various aspects such as cost structure, productivity, asset structure,
financial structure and working capital management.
