Abstract:
The study deals with the distribution theory and applications of concomitants from the Morgenstern family of bivariate distributions.The Morgenstern system of distributions include all cumulative distributions of the form FX,Y(X,Y)=FX(X) FY(Y)[1+α(1-FX(X))(1-FY(Y))], -1≤α≤1.The system provides a very general expression of a bivariate distributions from which members can be derived by substituting expressions of any desired set of marginal distributions.It is a brief description of the basic distribution theory and a quick review of the existing literature.The Morgenstern family considered in the present study provides a very general expression of a bivariate distribution from which several members can be derived by substituting expressions of any desired set of marginal distributions.Order statistics play a very important role in statistical theory and practice and accordingly a remarkably large body of literature has been devoted to its study.It helps to develop special methods of statistical inference,which are valid with respect to a broad class of distributions.The present study deals with the general distribution theory of Mk, [r: m] and Mk, [r: m] from the Morgenstern family of distributions and discuss some applications in inference, estimation of the parameter of the marginal variable Y in the Morgestern type uniform distributions.

Abstract:
The hazards associated with major accident hazard (MAH) industries
are fire, explosion and toxic gas releases. Of these, toxic gas release is the worst
as it has the potential to cause extensive fatalities. Qualitative and quantitative
hazard analyses are essential for the identitication and quantification of the
hazards associated with chemical industries. This research work presents the
results of a consequence analysis carried out to assess the damage potential of
the hazardous material storages in an industrial area of central Kerala, India. A
survey carried out in the major accident hazard (MAH) units in the industrial
belt revealed that the major hazardous chemicals stored by the various industrial
units are ammonia, chlorine, benzene, naphtha, cyclohexane, cyclohexanone
and LPG. The damage potential of the above chemicals is assessed using
consequence modelling. Modelling of pool fires for naphtha, cyclohexane,
cyclohexanone, benzene and ammonia are carried out using TNO model. Vapor
cloud explosion (VCE) modelling of LPG, cyclohexane and benzene are carried
out using TNT equivalent model. Boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion
(BLEVE) modelling of LPG is also carried out. Dispersion modelling of toxic
chemicals like chlorine, ammonia and benzene is carried out using the ALOHA
air quality model. Threat zones for different hazardous storages are estimated
based on the consequence modelling. The distance covered by the threat zone
was found to be maximum for chlorine release from a chlor-alkali industry
located in the area. The results of consequence modelling are useful for the
estimation of individual risk and societal risk in the above industrial area.Vulnerability assessment is carried out using probit functions for toxic,
thermal and pressure loads. Individual and societal risks are also estimated at
different locations. Mapping of threat zones due to different incident outcome
cases from different MAH industries is done with the help of Are GIS.Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is an established technique for hazard
evaluation. This technique has the advantage of being both qualitative and
quantitative, if the probabilities and frequencies of the basic events are known.
However it is often difficult to estimate precisely the failure probability of the
components due to insufficient data or vague characteristics of the basic event.
It has been reported that availability of the failure probability data pertaining to
local conditions is surprisingly limited in India. This thesis outlines the
generation of failure probability values of the basic events that lead to the
release of chlorine from the storage and filling facility of a major chlor-alkali
industry located in the area using expert elicitation and proven fuzzy logic.
Sensitivity analysis has been done to evaluate the percentage contribution of
each basic event that could lead to chlorine release. Two dimensional fuzzy
fault tree analysis (TDFFTA) has been proposed for balancing the hesitation
factor invo1ved in expert elicitation .

Abstract:
The Andaman-Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal lies in a zone where the
Indian plate subducts beneath the Burmese microplate, and therefore forms a belt
of frequent earthquakes. Few efforts, not withstanding the available historical and
instrumental data were not effectively used before the Mw 9.3 Sumatra-Andaman
earthquake to draw any inference on the spatial and temporal distribution of large
subduction zone earthquakes in this region. An attempt to constrain the active
crustal deformation of the Andaman-Nicobar arc in the background of the December
26, 2004 Great Sumatra-Andaman megathrust earthquake is made here,
thereby presenting a unique data set representing the pre-seismic convergence and
co-seismic displacement.Understanding the mechanisms of the subduction zone earthquakes is both
challenging sCientifically and important for assessing the related earthquake hazards.
In many subduction zones, thrust earthquakes may have characteristic patterns
in space and time. However, the mechanism of mega events still remains
largely unresolved.Large subduction zone earthquakes are usually associated with high amplitude
co-seismic deformation above the plate boundary megathrust and the elastic relaxation
of the fore-arc. These are expressed as vertical changes in land level with the
up-dip part of the rupture surface uplifted and the areas above the down-dip edge
subsided. One of the most characteristic pattern associated with the inter-seismic
era is that the deformation is in an opposite sense that of co-seismic period.This work was started in 2002 to understand the tectonic deformation along the
Andaman-Nicobar arc using seismological, geological and geodetic data. The occurrence
of the 2004 megathrust earthquake gave a new dimension to this study, by
providing an opportunity to examine the co-seismic deformation associated with
the greatest earthquake to have occurred since the advent of Global Positioning
System (GPS) and broadband seismometry.
The major objectives of this study are to assess the pre-seismic stress regimes, to
determine the pre-seismic convergence rate, to analyze and interpret the pattern of
co-seismic displacement and slip on various segments and to look out for any possible
recurrence interval for megathrust event occurrence for Andaman-Nicobar
subduction zone. This thesis is arranged in six chapters with further subdivisions
dealing all the above aspects.

Abstract:
The present study made an attempt to analyze the socio-economic background and the consumption pattern of scheduled caste households in Idukki district. The objectives of the study are to examine consumption pattern among the scheduled cast population, differences in the average consumption expenditure of different decile groups, consumption expenditure elasticity of items, variations in expenditure of SC households on food, non-food and total expenditure and to examine the association between consumption expenditure and variables such as income, education, occupation and area of residence. The study reveals that the Monthly Per Capita Expenditure of scheduled castes population in rural Kerala is lower than that of the general population. Average household size is higher in rural sector for Scheduled Caste in Kerala as well as all-India. The per capita expenditure of Scheduled Castes of rural Kerala is found to be much lower than that of general population. The study has found that the levels of livings of the Scheduled Castes are far the below the expectations. Large percentage of the Scheduled Caste belongs to the lower income groups. This is due their very low economic status and the consequent employment prospects in low paying occupations. The consumption standards of the majority of Scheduled Castes are found much below that of General population. Effective implementation of the Schemes for their economic upliftment is needed for improving their consumption standards, Minimum Wage Act in the case of agricultural labourers etc. are some of recommendations on the basis of this study.

Abstract:
This thesis entitled “Contribution of size fractions of planktonic algae to primary organic productivity in the coastal waters of cochin,south west coast of india”. Marine ecosystems planktonic algae are the most important primary producers on wliich considerable attention is being given on account of their supreme status in the marine food chain.The study of primary production in the Indian Ocean started With DANA (I928-30),, John Murray t I933-34). Discovery ( I934) and Albatross (I947-48) expeditions which tried to evaluate productivity from nutrients and standing crop of phytoplankton .The bioproductivity of the marine environment is dependent on various primary producers. ranging in size from picoplankton to larger macro phytoplankton. The quantity and quality of various size fractions of planktonic algae at any locality depend mainly on the hydrographic conditions of the area .In the coastal waters of Cochin- south west coast of lndia. Planktonic algal community is composed mainly of the diatoms, the dinoflagellates, the blue-green algae and the silicoflagellates, the former two contributing the major flora and found distributed in the all size fractions. The maximum number of
species of diatoms at station 1 and station 2 was found in the pre-monsoon season.. The size groups of planktonic algae greater than 53 um are dominated by filamentous- chain forming and colonial diatoms. The coastal waters of Cochin. planktonic algae less than 53 um in
size contribute significantly to primary productivity and the biodiversity of the
microflora, indicating the presence of rich fishery resources in the south west coast of india.The study of different size fractions of planktonic algae and their relative contribution to the primary organic production is a useful tool for the estimation of the quantity and quality of fisheries.A deeper investigation on the occurrence of these microalgae and proper identification of their species would be of immense help for the assessment of the specificity and magnitude of fishery resources.

Abstract:
The present study focuses on the biochemical aspects of six islands belonging to Lakshadweep Archipelago – namely Kavaratti, Kadamath, Kiltan, Androth, Agathy and Minicoy. Lakshadweep, which is an area biologically significant due to isolation from the major coastline, remains as one of the least studied areas in Indian Ocean. The work, processed out the distributional pattern of trace metals among the biotic (corols, sea weeds and sea grass) and abiotic component (sediments) of ecosystem. An effort is made to picturise the spatial distribution pattern of different forms of nitrogen and phosphorus in the various sedimentary environments of the study area. Studies on the biogeochemical and nutrient aspects of the concerned study area scanty. In Lakshadweep, the local life is very dependent on reefs and its resources. The important stress which produce a threatening effort on the existence for coral reefs are anthropogenic-namely-organic and inorganic pollution from sewage, agricultural and industrial waters, sediment damage from excessive land cleaning, and over exploitation particularly through destructive fishing methods. In addition these one other more localized or less service anthropogenic stress: pollution by oil and other hydrocarbons, complex organic molecular and heavy metal pollution, and destructive engineering practices.

Abstract:
The need for improved feed systems for large reflector antennas employed in Radio Astronomy and Satellite tracking spurred the interest in horn antenna research in
the 1960's. The major requirements were to reduce spill over, cross-polarisation losses,and to enhance the aperture efficiency to the order of about 75-8O%L The search for such a feed culminated in the corrugated horn. The corrugat1e 1 horn triggered widespread interest and enthusiasm, and a large amount of work(32’34’49’5O’52’53’58’65’75’79)has already been done on this type of antennas. The properties of corrugated surfaces has been investigated in detail.
It was strongly felt that the flange technique and the use of corrugated surfaces could be merged together to obtain the advantages of both. This is the idea behind the present work. Corrugations are made on the surface of flange elements. The effect of various corrugation parameters are studied. By varying the flange parameters, a good amount of data is collected and analysed to ascertain the effects of corrugated flanges. The measurements are repeated at various frequencies, in the X— and S-bands. The following parameters of the system were studied: (a) beam shaping (b) gain (c) variation of V.S.U.R. (d) possibility of obtaining circularly polarised
radiation from the flanged horn. A theoretical explanation to the effects of corrugated flanges
is attempted on the basis of the line-source theory. Even though this theory utilises a simplified model for the calculation of radiation patterns, fairly good agreement between the computed pattern and experimental results are observed.

Abstract:
It is a fact that there now exists a sound framework of accounting theory
to ascertain the working results and the investment status of hospitals.
Yet, there is no system of accounting in practice to conduct its
activities with utmost efficiency. No attempts have hitherto been made
for the continuous improvement in the servics rendered by hospitals.
Personal investments in hospitals have made the interaction of business
to some extent.Planning, decision making and control assume increasing
importance as hospitals grow in size and complexity. Moreover, wise and
effective utilisation of resources should be ensured. The importance of
cost cannot be overlooked in this context. Cost is the most effective
factor in the determination of the prices of hospital services rendered.
The important managerial functions have to rely heavily on accurate and
timely cost information. More people can be provided with services if no
services cost more than what is a must to provide the necessary level of
care. The price paid for high cost technology for a few is no technology
at all for the many. Hence no pains must be spared in ascertaining,
presenting, controlling and reducing costs. An effective system of Cost
Accountancy and Cost Control is imperative for the survival of hospitals
in the intensely competitive conditions of today. The valuable objective
of "better patient care" can be attained only if the management can make
use of the various tools and techniques to ascertain, control and reduce
each item of cost in hospitals. Constant efforts must be made by the
management to continuously improve their services and bring down costs
and prices of all hospital services. Cost Accountancy has made its
impresssive impact on almost all the spheres of human activities. It is
high time a comprehensive Cost Accountancy and Cost Control system be
implemented in hospitals. The problem under study thus is the designing
of a sound and full-fledged Cost Accountancy and Cost Control system that
suits the requirements of hospitals. It is for the first time in India
during the evolution of Cost Accountancy that a comprehensive cost system
is tried in hospitals.

Abstract:
Attempts have been made to attain satisfactory
network structures in each of the phases of a rubber blend
by minimising the cure rate imbalance by employing methods
such as grafting of accelerators to the slow curing rubber,
chemically bonding the crosslinking agents to the rubber in
which it has lower solubility, functionalisation of the slow
curing rubber, masterbatching of the curing agents
to the slow curing rubber etc. Functionalisation of
the slow curing constituents of NR/IIR and NR/EIPDM blends
is tried using novel reagents as the first part of this
study. However, the crux of the present study is a more
direct approach to attaining a covulcanized state in NR/IIR
and NR/EPDM blends: Precuring the slow curing rubber (IIR
or EPDM) to a low level when it can still blend with NR and
then to ck) the final curing after blending with NR. TNM3
precuring is also likely to minimise the viscosity mismatch.
Since a low level of resmmal crosslink density is likely to
be present lJ1 reclaimed rubbers, blending heat resistant
reclaimed rubber such as butyl reclaim with NR may also have
the same effect of precuring IIR, and then blending with NR.
Hence use of IIR reclaim for developing blends with NR is
also proposed to be investigated in this study

Abstract:
The Union Territory of Pondicherry prior to its merger with the Indian
Union was a French Colony. The erstwhile territory of Pondicherry along with
its hamlets, namely, KARAIKKAL, MAHE and YANAM was administered by the
French Regime. Before it was established by French in 1 6 74 A.D. it was part of
Vijayanagara Empire. Prior to this, Pondicherry was a part of the Kingdom of
Chola and Pallava Kings. During French Regime, the laws which were in force in France in relation to administration of civil and criminal justice were extended to the erstwhile
Territory of Pondicherry. Thus while Pondicherry stood influenced by the
Inquisitorial system since the beginning of the 18th century, the neighboring
states forming part of the Indian Union since Independence came under the
Influence of the British system, viz. accusatorial system.
The territory of Pondicherry, for administrative reasons, came to be
merged with the Indian Union in the early 60's. Following the merger, the Indian
administration sought to extent its own laws from time to time replacing erstwhile
French Laws, however, subject to certain savings. Thus the transitional period
witnessed consequential changes in the administration of the territory, including
the sphere of judicial system. Since I 963, the Union Territory of Pondicherry was
brought under the spell of the Indian Legal System The people in Pondicherry ' thus have had the benefit of experiencing both the svstems. Their experiences will be of much help to those who undertake comparative studies in law. The plus and minus points of the respective systems
help one to develop a detachment that helps independent evaluation of the
svstents. The result of these studies could be relevant in revitalising our criminal
systems.The present system is evaluated in the light of the past system. New
dimensions are added by way' of an empirical study also.

Abstract:
Chapter 1 presents a brief note on the state at which the construction industry
stands at present, bringing into focus the significance of the critical study. Relevance
of the study, area of investigation and objectives of the study are outlined in this
chapter. The 2nd chapter presents a review of the literature on the relevant areas.
In the third chapter an analysis on time and cost overrun in construction
highlighting the major factors responsible for it has been done. A couple of case
studies to estimate loss to the nation on account of delay in construction have been
presented in the chapter. The need for an appropriate estimate and a competent
contractor has been emphasised for improving effectiveness in the project
implementation. Certain useful equations and thoughts have been formulated on this
area in this chapter that can be followed in State PWD and other Govt. organisations.
Case studies on project implementation of major projects undertaken by
Government sponsored/supported organizations in Kerala have been dealt with in
Chapter 4. A detailed description of the project of Kerala Legislature Complex with a
critical analysis has been given in this chapter. A detailed account of the investigations carried out on the construction of International Stadium, a sports project
of Greater Cochin Development Authority is included here. The project details of
Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery, its promoters and contractors are also
discussed in Chapter 4.
Various aspects of implementation which led the above projects successful have
been discussed in chapter 5. The data collected were analysed through discussion and
perceptions to arrive at certain conclusions. The emergence of front-loaded contract
and its impact on economics of the project execution are dealt with in this chapter.
Analysis of delays in respect of the various project narrated in chapter 3 has been done
here. The root causes of the project time and overrun and its remedial measures are
also enlisted in this chapter.
Study of cost and time overrun of any construction project IS a part of
construction management. Under the present environment of heavy investment on
construction activities in India, the consequences of mismanagement many a time lead
to excessive expenditure which are not be avoidable. Cost consciousness, therefore has
to be keener than ever before. Optimization in investment can be achieved by
improved dynamism in construction management. The successful completion of
coristruction projects within the specified programme, optimizing three major attributes
of the process - quality, schedule and costs - has become the most valuable and
challenging task for the engineer - managers to perform. So, the various aspects of
construction management such as cost control, schedule control, quality assurance,
management techniques etc. have also been discussed in this fifth chapter.
Chapter 6 summarises the conclusions drawn from the above criticalr1 of rhajor
construction projects in Kerala.

Abstract:
The current scenario of coordination chemistry is witnessing the exploitation
of coordination bonds and noncovalent interactions to generate self-assemblies of
various dimensions having not only aesthetic values but also countless applications
and that paved way for supramolecular chemistry/crystal engineering. Most of
such fascinating work employs Schiff bases obtained by the condenzation of an
amine and a carbonyl compound. The use of diamines in the synthesis of highnuclearity
complexes utilizes the bridging capacity of phenoxo atoms. Whereas in
the case of N2O donor tridentate Schiff bases (N-substituted diamines with
salicylaldehyde or its derivatives), coligands are employed to generate structures of
variable composition apart from satisfying the coordination number. Among the
various coligands known, pseudohalides (azido, cyanato, thiocyanato, dicyanamido)
deserve special attention on account of its versatile modes of binding. In addition
to the structural variety, such Schiff base complexes have its signature in the field
of catalysis, luminescence, gas adsorption and magnetic materials which make the
arena conspicuous. The recognition of plasticity of copper(II) metal with respect to
its coordination number and its ubiquitous nature as active sites in many metalloenzymes
fuelled us to work with this metal. The results of our efforts to explore
the role of various interaction forces constitute the subject matter of the thesis
entitled “Crystalline architectures of copper(II) complexes derived from halogen
substituted carbonyl compounds: Interplay of covalent and non-covalent forces”.
The work embodied in this thesis was carried out by the author in the Department of
Applied Chemistry, CUSAT, Kochi, during the period 2011-2016 and is divided into
eight chapters.

Abstract:
Thiosemicarbazones have emerged as an important class of ligands
over a period of time, for a variety of reasons, such as variable donor
properties, structural diversity and biological applications. Interesting as
the coordination chemistry may be, the driving force for the study of these
ligands has undoubtedly been their biological properties and the majority
of the 3000 or so publications on thiosemicarbazones since 2000 have
alluded to this feature. Thiosemicarbazones with potential donor atoms in
their structural skeleton fascinate coordination chemists with their versatile
chelating behavior. The thiosemicarbazones of aromatic aldehydes and
ketones form stable chelates with transition metal cations by utilizing both
their sulfur and azomethine nitrogen as donor atoms. They have been
shown to possess a diverse range of biological activities including
anticancer, antitumor, antibacterial, antiviral, antimalarial and antifungal
properties owing to their ability to diffuse through the semipermeable
membrane of the cell lines. The enhanced effect may be attributed to the
increased lipophilicity of the metal complexes compared to the ligand
alone.

Abstract:
Supra molecular architectures of coordination complexes of liydrazones
through non covalent interactions have been explored. Molecular self—assernbly
driven by weak interactions such as hydrogen— bonding, K '”T[, C-1-I‘ "TE, van
der Waals interactions, and so forth are currently of tremendous research
interest in the fields of molecule based materials. The directional properties of
the hydrogembonding interaction associate discrete molecules into aggregate
structures that are sufficiently stable to be considered as independent chemical
species. Chemistry can borrow nature’s strategy to utilize hydrogen-bonding as
Well as other noncovalent interactions as found in secondary and tertiary
structures of proteins such as the double helix folding of DNA, hydrophobic
selflorganization of phospholipids in cell membrane etc. In supramolecular
chemistry hydrogen bonding plays an important role in forming a variety of
architectures. Thus, the wise modulation and tuning of the complementary sites
responsible for hydrogen—bond formation have led to its application in
supramolecular electronics, host-guest chemistry, self-assembly of molecular
capsules, nanotubes etc. The work presented in this thesis describes the synthesis and
characterization of metal complexes derived from some substituted
aroylhydrazones. The thesis is divided into seven chapters.

Abstract:
The present study on naoplankton is based on the isolation and development of unialgai culturas from the inshore waters at Cochin. characterization of their growth assimilation products. ecophysioiogy and evaluation of nutritional quality. The work was carried out during the period 1980-1983. The nanoplankters were isolated and grown in the labratory as batch cultures to study the increase in cell population, the photosynthetic pigment: ana physioiogical activity. The chemical composition of these organisms and their rate of excretion were also determined. The environmental factors physical and chemical that influence the growth of these Cultures were defined by conducting independentexperiments. These cultures of the isolated nanoplankters have raised indoor and fed to the larvae of edible oyster to test their suitability as live-food.

Abstract:
The present study is an attempt to standardize the environmental condition like pH, salinity and photoperiod, and also the feed for the maximum production of rotifers. Considering the deficiency of essential fatty acids in rotifers, enrichment experiments were carried out and fatty acids profile were analysed. Attempts were made to improve the production of clown fish (Amphiprion sebae) juveniles using enriched rotifers. Attempts were also made to rear various larval stages of Penaeus monodon with enriched rotifers as a substitute for Artemia nauplii.

Abstract:
Earlier studies on measurement of customer satisfaction are based on either transaction specific or overall approaches. The transaction specific approach evaluates customer satisfaction with single components in the whole purchase process but the overall satisfaction was based on all the encounters or experiences to the customer throughout the purchase process. Consumers will comment on particular events of their purchase process when asked about transaction-specific satisfaction and they will comment their overall impression and general experiences in overall satisfaction (Bitner & Hubbert 1994) Through a critical review on the literature, it has been identified a new approaches to customer satisfaction, say, cumulative approaches that can be more useful than overall and transaction specific approaches for strategic decision making (Fornell et al 1996). The cumulative approach to customer satisfaction doesn’t study earlier due to the difficulty in operationalization of the concept. But the influencers of customer satisfaction are context specific and the prevailing models doesn’t give the sources of variations in the satisfaction, the importance of cumulative approaches to customer satisfaction has emerges that lights to a new research. The current study has focused to explore the influencers of overall customer satisfaction to form individual elements that can be used to identify the cumulative customer satisfaction.

Abstract:
The scope of the work was to synthesis few biologically active derivatives
of curcumin. The derivatives were prepared by altering the keto-enol centre of
curcumin by various reagents. This particular reaction centre for preparing
derivative was selected keeping in mind the controversy regarding the major site
responsible for antioxidant mechanism of curcumin. Most of the mechanistic study
done earlier was by varying the constituents in one or both of the phenol ring
present in the curcumin. The alterations at the keto-enol moiety may throw an
insight into the role of the diketo moiety towards the antioxidant mechanism. Since
recently curcumin has been suggested as a chemotherapeutic agent for various
ailments, we also decided to check the DNA intercalating property of the
derivatives synthesised.

Abstract:
There are a large number of commercial examples and property advantages of immiscible elastomer blends.73 Blends of natural rubber (NR) and polybutadiene (BR) have shown various
advantages including heat stability, improved elasticity and abrasion resistance. Ethylene-propylene-diene-rubber (EPDM) blended with styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) has shown improvements in ozone and chemical resistance with better compression set properties. Blends of EPDM and nitrile rubber (NBR) have been cited as a compromise for obtaining moderate oil and ozone resistance with improved low temperature properties. Neoprene (CR)/BR blends offer improved low temperature properties and abrasion resistance with better processing characteristics etc. However, in many of the commercial two-phase elastomer blends, segregation of the crosslinking agents, carbon black or antioxidants preferentially into one phase
can result in failure to attain optimum properties. Soluble and insoluble compounding ingredients are found to be preferentially concentrated in one phase. The balance of optimum curing of both phases therefore presents a difficult problem. It has been the aim of this study to improve the

Abstract:
As of 1999. the state of Kerala has 3210 offices of scheduled
commercial banks (SCBS). In all, there are 48 commercial banks
operating in Kerala, which includes PSBs, OPBs, NPBS. FBs, and
Gramin Banks. The urban areas give a complete picture of the
competition in the present day banking scenario with the presence
of all bank groups. Semi-urban areas of Kerala have 2196 and urban
areas have 593 as on March 1995.“ The study focuses on the
selected segments ofthe urban customers in Kerala which is capable
of giving the finer aspects of variation in customer behaviour in the
purchase of banking products and services. Considering the
exhaustive nature of such an exercise, all the districts in the state
have not been brought under the purview of the study. Instead. three
districts with largest volume of business in terms of deposits,
advances, and number of offices have been short listed as
representative regions for a focused study.
The study focuses on the retail customer segment and their
perceptions on the various products or services offered to them. Non
Resident Indians (NRIs), and Traders and Small—ScaIe Industries
segments have also been included in the study with a view to obtain
a comparative picture with respect to perception on customer
satisfaction and service quality dimensions and bank choice
behaviour. The research is hence confined to customer behaviour
and the implications for possible strategies for segmentation within
the retail segment customers

Abstract:
In the current study, epidemiology study is done by means of
literature survey in groups identified to be at higher potential for DDIs as
well as in other cases to explore patterns of DDIs and the factors affecting
them. The structure of the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS)
database is studied and analyzed in detail to identify issues and challenges
in data mining the drug-drug interactions. The necessary pre-processing
algorithms are developed based on the analysis and the Apriori algorithm is
modified to suit the process. Finally, the modules are integrated into a tool to identify DDIs. The results are compared using standard drug interaction
database for validation. 31% of the associations obtained were identified to
be new and the match with existing interactions was 69%. This match
clearly indicates the validity of the methodology and its applicability to
similar databases. Formulation of the results using the generic names
expanded the relevance of the results to a global scale. The global
applicability helps the health care professionals worldwide to observe
caution during various stages of drug administration thus considerably
enhancing pharmacovigilance

Abstract:
An attempt has been made in this thesis to model some of the emissions observed
by SPICAM and SPICAV on Mars and Venus, respectively, viz., CO Cameron band,
CO+
2 ultraviolet doublet, N2 triplet bands, atomic oxygen green (5577 A), red doublet
(6300, 6364 A), and ultraviolet (2972 A) emissions. One of major sources of these
emissions is photoelectron impact ionization/excitation. In this thesis, an electron
degradation model based on Monte Carlo technique has been developed to calculate
the production/excitation rates of above mentioned emissions due to electron impact.
The limb brightness pro les of emissions are calculated and compared with the observations
wherever available. The e ect of various model input parameters on dayglow
emissions intensities is also evaluated
