Indigenous knowledge for climate prediction The experienced fishermen can predict the climatic changes almost precisely. Colour changes in the sky, strength and direction of wind, the direction and position of black clouds, wave action etc were the main measures for the fishermen in earlier time to predict natural hazards. Some of their findings were discussed below.

  * If rainbow appears in the east there would be a chance of drought and if it is in the west, this indicates sure rain
*  When halo occurs around moon indicates 	more of water currents are observed
* A wind blowing from south to north coupled with appearance of White Sea gull	Indicative of rough seas and impending cyclone
