Abstract:
A trapezoidal strip grating surface that eliminates specular
reflections almost over the entire X -band frequency range for TM
polarization is reported This new grating structure overcomes the
bandwidth limitation of conventional rectangular strip grating surfaces
Ceramic dielectrics with high dielectric constant in the microwave frequency range are used as filters, oscillators [I], etc. in microwave integrated
circuits (MICs) particularly in modern communication systems like cellular telephones and
satellite communications. Such ceramics, known as 'dielectric resonators (DRs),donot
only offer miniaturisation and reduce the weight of the microwave components. but also
improve the efficiency of MICs

Abstract:
The surface acidity and basicity of oxides of Sm and Zr
and their mixed oxides have been determined using a set of
Hammett indicators. The data have been correlated with
the catalytic activity of these oxides towards the liquid
phase reduction of cyclo-hexanone in 2-propanol.

Abstract:
The Setschenow parameter and thermodynamic parameters of transfer of
2-, 3- and 4-fluorobenzoic acid from water to salt solution are reported.
The data have been rationalized by considering the structure breaking effects of the ions of the salts, the localized hydrolysis model and the internal
pressure theory.

Abstract:
The electron donor properties of Pr6O11 activated at 300. 500 and 800°C are reported from the studies
on adsorption of electron acceptors of various electron affinity (7. 7, 8, 8-tetracyanoquinodimethane.
2, 3. 5, 6-tetrachloro-l, 4-benzoquin one. p-dinitrobenzene. and
m-dinitrobenzene) in three solvents (acetonitrile, 1,4-dioxan and ethyl acetate). The extent of electron
transfer during adsorption is understood from magnetic measurements and ESR spectral data. The corresponding
data on mixed oxides of Pr and Al are reported for various compositions, The acid / base
properties of these oxides are determined using a set of Hammett indicators.

High resolution optogalvanic spectrum of the (11, 7) band in the first positive system
of nitrogen molecule has been recorded from 17179 to 17376 cm- 1. Assignment of 432 rotational
lines belonging to the 27 branches of this band has been carried out.

Abstract:
YBa2Cu307 target was laser ablated, and the time-of-flight (TOF) distributions of Y, Y+., and YO in
the resultant plasma were investigated as functions of distance from the target and laser energy
density using emission spectroscopy. Up to a short distance from the target (-1.5 cm), TOF
distributions show twin peaks for Y and YO, while only single-peak distribution is observed for Y+.
At greater distances (>1.5 cm) all of them exhibit single-peak distribution. The twin peaks are
assigned to species corresponding to those generated directly/m the vicinity of target surface and to
those generated from collisional/recombination process.

Abstract:
A simple method based on laser beam deflection to study the variation of diffusion
coefficient with concentration in a solution is presented. When a properly fanned out laser
beam is passed through a rectangular cell filled with solution having concentration gradient,
the emergent beam traces out a curved pattern on a screen. By taking measurements on the
pattern at different concentrations, the variation of diffusion coefficient with concentration can
be determined.

Abstract:
S1 to S3 excited singlet state absorption and two-photon absorption in Rhodamine 6G at the pump wavelengths of 532 and 1064 nm respectively are investigated. The advantages of employing the pulsed photoacoustic technique for conveniently observing excited singlet state absorption are discussed. It is shown that, since photoacoustics and fluorescence are complementary phenomena, analysis using both techniques will yield a better understanding of optical processes in molecules like Rhodamine 6G.

Abstract:
We establish numerically the validity of Huberman-Rudnick scaling relation for
Lyapunov exponents during the period doubling route to chaos in one dimensional maps. We
extend our studies to the context of a combination map. where the scaling index is found to
be different.
