Abstract:
Cure characteristics of short polyester fiber-polyurethane composites with respect to
different bonding agents (MD resins) based on 4, 4' diphenylmethanediisocyanate (MDI)
and various diols like propyleneglycol (PG), polypropyleneglycol (PPG) and glycerol
(GL) were studied. Tmax. - Tmin. of composites having MD resin were found to be
higher than the composite without MD resin. Minimum torque and Tmax. - Tmin.,
scorch time and optimum cure time were increased with the increase of MDI equivalence.
Optimum ratio of MDI / -of in the resin was found to be within the range of
1-1.5. It was observed from the cure characteristics that for getting better adhesion
between short polyester fiber and the polyurethane matrix the best choice of MD resin
was one based on MDI and 1:1 equivalent mixture of polypropyleneglycol and glycerol.

Abstract:
The surface acidity and basicity of mixed oxides of Zr and Y
and their mixed oxides have been determined by titration method
using Hammett indicators. The acid base properties are evaluated
on a common scale of acid strength. Liquid phase reduction of
cyclohexanone has been selected as a model reaction to correlate
catalytic activity.

Abstract:
The surface acidity and basicity of ternary oxides of
AI, Ce and Dy have been determined using a set of
Hammett indicators. The data have been correlated
with the catalytic activity of these oxides towards the
liquid phase reduction of cyclohexanone in 2-propanol.
The reaction is favoured by the higher basicity of
the ternary oxide.

Abstract:
The surface acidity/basicity of binary oxides of Zr and La and the ternary oxides of Zr, La and Al are
reported. The data have been correlated with their catalytic activity towards liquid phase reduction of
cyclohexanone.
The changes occuring to cashew
kernels during storage at two humidity
levels - 80% to 20% with respect
to organoleptic characteristics,
protein content, carbohydrate content,
oil content, iodine and peroxide
values were studied. From the
present study it is concluded that
organoleptic characteristics of
cashew kernels deteriorates with increase
in humidity. Decrease in protein
and carbohydrate content of
stored cashew kernel is dependent
on humidity. Humidity increased
oxidative rancidification.
A new microwave dielectric resonator Ba(Tb1/2Nb1/2)03 has been prepared and characterized in the microwave frequency region. 1 wt% CeO2 is used as additive to reduce the sintering temperature. The sintered samples were characterized by XRD, SEM and Raman spectroscopic methods. Microwave DR properties such as er, Q factor and temperature-coefficient of resonant frequency (Ti) have been measured using a HP 8510 B Network Analyzer. Cylindrical DRs of Ba(Tb1/2Nbi/2)03 showed high Er (~ 37), high Q (~3,200) and low Tf (~10 ppm /°C) at 4 GHz and hence are useful for practical applications

Abstract:
This thesis is entitled “OPTICAL EMISSION DIAGNOSTICS OF LASER PRODUCED PLASMA FROM GRAPHITE AND YBa2Cu3O7. The work presented in this thesis covers the experimental results on the plasma produced with moderately high power laser with irradiance range in between 10 GW cm 2 to 100 GW cm -2. The characterization of laser produced plasma from solid targets viz. graphite and high temperature superconducting material like YBa2Cu3O7 have been carried out. The fundamental frequency from a Q - switched Nd: YAG laser with 9 ns pulse
duration is used for the present studies. Various optical emission emission diagnostic techniques were employed for the the characterization of the LPP which include emission spectroscopy, time resolved studies, line broadening method etc. In order to understand the physical nature of the LPP like recombination, collisional excitation and the laser interaction with plasma, the time resolved studies offer the most logical approach
