Abstract:
Electromagnetic scattering behaviour of a superstrate loaded metallo–
dielectric structure based on Sierpinski carpet fractal geometry is
reported. The results indicate that the frequency at which backscattering
is minimum can be tuned by varying the thickness of the superstrate.
A reduction in backscattered power of 44 dB is obtained
simultaneously for both TE and TM polarisations of the incident field.

Abstract:
The thesis entitled novel 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of acyclic carbonyl ylides and related chemistry embodies the results of the investigations carried out to explore the reactivity of acyclic carbonyl ylides, generated by the reaction of dicarbomethoxy carbine and aldehydes towards dipolarophiles such as activated styrenes,1,2-and 1,4-quinones. In conclusion ,we have explored the reactivity pattern of acyclic carbonyl ylides derived from dicarbomethoxycarbene and aldehyde towards activated styrenes with a view to develop a stereoselective synthesis of highly substituted tetrahydrofuran derivatives. It was also found that the ylide could be trapped by various 1,2-and 1,4-diones to form dioxolane derivatives. It is noteworthy that the cycloaddition is highly region- and stereoselective. With isatins the ylide preferentially adds to the more electrone deficient carbonyl group making it regiospecific. Hetrocyclic compounds are of pivotal importance in organic chemistry, and enormous efforts have been devoted to develop new methodologies for their synthesis. It is noteworthy in this context that, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction, otherwise called Huisgen reaction, constitutes one of the most efficient methods for the synthesis of five membered heterocycles. Among the various dipoles, carbonyl ylides have received substiancial attention in recent years largely due to their utility in the synthesis of a wide range of oxygen hetrocycles, which are often found as structural subunits of many bioactive natural products.

Abstract:
This study is an attempt to look at the impact of international norms on the criminal justice administration in India. It has been confined to the criminal justice administration since it is here that the concept of sovereignty is affected the most. The study is intended to give a fair idea as to the position India holds in the matter of implementation of international norms in the area of criminal justice administration and the areas that require urgent attention. The study suggests that the country’s system is on the right track towards the implementation of the international norms. The position of law in India and the requirements under international norms with respect to criminal justice administration have been studied by considering the same at three stages – pre trial, trial and post trial stages. The question as to whether they comply with the international standards and the approaches of the court has been inquired into this study

Abstract:
The present study was to investigate the rote of central 5-11T and 5-HT,:v receptor Lindin4o
and acne expression in it 'at mo(lel of pancreatic regeneration using 60" -, pancreatcutumy.
The pancreatic regeneration was evaluated by 5-HT content and 5-HT,,receptor gene
expression in the cerebral cortex (CC) and brain stem MS) of Alain opcrate,t, 7 It utd
7 (.lays panereatectomised rats. 5-11T content significantly increased in the CC' (I' 1.1)11
and 13S (P 0.05) of 72 Ii p.ntcreateetomiscd rats. Sympathetic activity was decreased as
indicated by the significantly decreased norcpiuephrine (NIi) and epinephrine (FTI) Icvcl
(1' < 0.001 and P < 0.05) in the plasma of 72 h panereateetomised rats. 5-111 ,^, receptor
density and affinity was decreased in the CC (P < 0.01) and BS (P < 0.01). These rh:)nge;
correlated with a diminished 5-IITIA receptor mRNA expression in the brain region. studied.
Our resuils suggest that the brain 5-11T through 5-HTin receptor has it funcuon:0 rule

A novel compact wideband antenna for wireless local area network
(WLAN) applications in the 2.4 GHz band are presented. The proposed
low profile antenna of dimensions 15 x 14.5 x 1.6 mm offers 18.6%
bandwidth and an average gain of~5 dBi. The antenna can be excited
directly using a 50 coaxial probe

Abstract:
We report the position dependent tuning of fluorescence emission from
rhodamine 6G doped polymethylmethacrylate film waveguide using a side
illumination technique. The transmitted fluorescence as a function of the
distance from the point of illumination is measured by translating the
waveguide horizontally across a monochromatic light source. This technique
has been utilized to characterize the optical loss in dye doped waveguides.
We observe that the optical loss coefficients for shorter and longer distances
of propagation through the dye doped waveguide are different. At longer
distance of propagation a decrease in optical loss coefficient is observed

Abstract:
Prevulcanized natural rubber latex was prepared
by the heating of the latex compound at 55°C for
different periods of time (2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 h). The changes in
the colloidal stability and physical properties were evaluated
during the course of prevulcanization. The prevulcanized
latex compounds were stored for 300 days, and the
properties were monitored at different storage intervals (0,
20, 40, 60, 120, 180, 240, and 300 days). During prevulcanization,
the mechanical stability time increased, and the viscosity
remained almost constant. The tensile strength increased
during storage for a period of 20 days. The degree of
crosslinking, modulus, elongation at break, and chloroform
number were varied with the time of storage.
One-pot acetalizations of cyclohexanone. acetophenone and benzophenone were carried out using methanol over H-montmorillonite clay
(a mesoporous material). silica, alumina, and different zeolites such as HFAU-Y.HBeta, H-ZSM-5, and H-mordenite. In all the cases a single
product-the corresponding dimethylacetal-was obtained in high yields. Hemiacetal formation was not observed with any catalyst. A
comparison of catalytic activity indicated that montmorillonite K-10 is the most active catalyst for the reaction. As evidenced by the reaction
time studies, the catalyst decay is greater over the zeolite catalyst than over the clay.
