This work proposes a parallel genetic algorithm for
compressing scanned document images. A fitness
function is designed with Hausdorff distance which
determines the terminating condition. The algorithm
helps to locate the text lines. A greater compression ratio
has achieved with lesser distortion

In this article it is proved that the stationary Markov sequences generated by minification models are ergodic and uniformly mixing. These results are used to establish the optimal properties of estimators for the parameters in the model. The problem of estimating the parameters in the exponential minification model is discussed in detail.

Abstract:
In order to check the damage caused by the parasites, even though it is difficult in open waters, a proper understanding of the seasonal variation in the distribution of the parasite and other factors like age of the host, sex of the host, which affect distribution of parasite is a must. Although several workers have carried out investigations on the taxonomy of metazoan parasites of marine and brackish water Fishes of India, very little attempt is made to correlate such investigations with the host and the environment. In this thesis such an attempt is made by the researcher.
In chapter one the literature related to the prevalence, mean intensity of infection, and histopathological changes caused by the metazoan parasites, in particular by helminths, copepods and isopods, was reviewed. Chapter two contains observations on the distribution pattern of parasites in relation to the season, sex, and size of the host. It was found that the prevalence rate of radiorynchus_indicus infecting the alimentary canal of Tachysurugs mgacuglatus, Ergasilus sp. infecting the gills of T maculatus, and Lernaeeniicus ramosus found on the body surface of Qeimgipteirfugs jagonicus was higher during monsoon season. But agarna malayi found in the opercular chamber and Ehilometra cephalus infecting the gonads of valamugil speiglari showed a higher prevalence rate during the postmonsoon season. This was discussed on the basis of the hydrographical characteristics prevailing in the study area during the three different seasons.
It was also observed that the sex of the host did not influence significantly the distribution pattern of the parasites. The reasons for this were also discussed. Invariably, the size of the host
was found to influence the parasite distribution pattern. It was observed that the prevalence rate showed an increase with increase in size of the fish. This was discussed on the basis of food habits of the host, along with other aspects An attempt was made in chapter three to study the histopathological effects of‘ the various parasites on their respective sites of attachments on host Fishes. It was found that except Rhadinorhyhchugs indicus, all other parasites produced damages of varying intensity, in the form of hypertrophy, rhyperplasia, haemorrhage, tissue disruption and ulcers. Interestingly, E. indicus, an acantho— cephalid with a powerful proboscis for attachment was found not to cause any serious damage to the intestine of the host Fish. All these aspects are included in the third and final chapter of the thesis.

Abstract:
To demonstrate pathological changes due to white spot virus infection in Fenneropenaeus indicus, a batch
of hatchery bred quarantined animals was experimentally infected with the virus. Organs such as gills,
foregut, mid-gut, hindgut, nerve, eye, heart, ovary and integument were examined by light and electron
microscopy. Histopathological analyses revealed changes hitherto not reported in F. indicus such as
lesions to the internal folding of gut resulted in syncytial mass sloughed off into lumen, thickening of
hepatopancreatic connective tissue with vacuolization of tubules and necrosis of rectal pads in hindgut.
Virus replication was seen in the crystalline tract region of the compound eye and eosinophilic granules
infiltrated from its base. In the gill arch, dilation and disintegration of median blood vessel was observed.
In the nervous tissues, encapsulation and subsequent atrophy of hypertrophied nuclei of the neurosecretory
cells were found. Transmission electron microscopy showed viral replication and morphogenesis in
cells of infected tissue. De novo formed vesicles covered the capsid forming a bilayered envelop opened at
one end inside the virogenic stroma. Circular vesicles containing nuclear material was found fused with
the envelop. Subsequent thickening of the envelop resulted in the fully formed virus. In this study, a correlation
was observed between the stages of viral multiplication and the corresponding pathological
changes in the cells during the WSV infection. Accordingly, gill and foregut tissues were found highly
infected during the onset of clinical signs itself, and are proposed to be used as the tissues for routine disease
diagnosis.

Abstract:
The thesis embodies the results of the studies carried out on certain diseases affecting the commercially important penaeid prawns in the capture and culture fisheries of the southwest and southeast coasts of india during october, 1981 to april 1985.initially a survey is conducted to obtain information and to understand the commom diseases and abnormalities occurring in the penaeid prawms in nature and those farmed. A result of the survey then cases of diseases and abnormalities are reported. These include tumour like growth soft prawm syndrome, tail necrosis brown spot disease, red rostrum, ciliate infestation ,helminth parasitisation, metacercarial infestation and bopyrid infestation in the penaeid prawns such as penaeus indicus p. monodon , p. semisulcatus ,Metapenaeus
dobsoni and m.affinis.The symptoms ,occurrence and incidence of each of the above cases are
provided along with the information on environmental factors such as salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature and ph of the water from the collection sites. The nature of the disease, the tissuse of the host that are affected by the infection or infestation or by the pathogen ,and the
actors influencing the infection in each of the ten cases are studied histopathologically and discussed. In the light of the available published information, the control measures for the different diseases of penaeid prawns are presented and discussed.

Abstract:
The study is undertaken by the researcher with the object of examining the remuneration pattern of executive personnel in the manufacturing public enterprises in Kerala so as to find out whether there is any rationale or criteria involved in remunerating executives. It is also envisaged to find out the pattern of executive remuneration in the various categories of industries and inter—industry disparities among the public sector enterprises. This is considered to be a very fruitful area for investigation, particularly in view of the generally prevailing notion that public sector executives in Kerala are not remunerated properly and glaring inequalities and disparities are existing among the various categories of industries and within the same industry. Therefore the study is to explore the criteria used for the determination of executive remuneration and the relative weightage of various factors such as size of the firm, rate of return sales volume etc of the organisation and various other factors such as qualification, experience, level of job and functions of executives. Further the study is extended to find out the role of 'pay' towards motivation and efficiency of the executive personnel

In this paper we investigate the problem of cache resolution in a mobile peer to peer ad hoc network. In our
vision cache resolution should satisfy the following requirements: (i) it should result in low message
overhead and (ii) the information should be retrieved with minimum delay. In this paper, we show that
these goals can be achieved by splitting the one hop neighbours in to two sets based on the transmission
range. The proposed approach reduces the number of messages flooded in to the network to find the
requested data. This scheme is fully distributed and comes at very low cost in terms of cache overhead. The
experimental results gives a promising result based on the metrics of studies.

This study shows that the disease resistance and survival
rate of Penaeus monodon in a larval rearing systems
can be enhanced by supplementing with antagonistic
or non-antagonistic probiotics. The antagonistic mode
of action of Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103
against vibrios was demonstrated in larval mesocosm
with cultures having su⁄cient concentration of antagonistic
compounds in their culture supernatant. Investigations
on the antagonistic properties of Bacillus
MCCB 101, Pseudomonas MCCB 102 and MCCB 103
and Arthrobacter MCCB 104 against Vibrio harveyi
MCCB111under in vitro conditions revealed that Pseudomonas
MCCB 102 and MCCB 103 were inhibitory to
the pathogen.These inhibitory propertieswere further
con¢rmed in the larval rearing systems of P. monodon.
All these four probionts signi¢cantly improved larval
survival in long-term treatments as well as when challengedwith
a pathogenic strain ofV. harveyiMCCB111.
We could demonstrate that Pseudomonas MCCB 102
andMCCB103 accorded disease resistance and a higher
survival rate in P. monodon larval rearing systems
throughactive antagonism of vibrios,whereas Bacillus
MCCB 101 and Arthrobacter MCCB 104 functioned as
probiotics through immunostimulatory and digestive
enzyme-supporting modes of action.

Abstract:
Decimal multiplication is an integral part of financial,
commercial, and internet-based computations. This paper
presents a novel double digit decimal multiplication
(DDDM) technique that performs 2 digit multiplications
simultaneously in one clock cycle. This design offers low
latency and high throughput. When multiplying two n-digit
operands to produce a 2n-digit product, the design has a
latency of (n / 2) 1 cycles. The paper presents area
and delay comparisons for 7-digit, 16-digit, 34-digit double
digit decimal multipliers on different families of Xilinx,
Altera, Actel and Quick Logic FPGAs. The multipliers
presented can be extended to support decimal floating-point
multiplication for IEEE P754 standard

Abstract:
Residue Number System (RNS) based Finite Impulse Response (FIR) digital filters and
traditional FIR filters. This research is motivated by the importance of an efficient filter
implementation for digital signal processing. The comparison is done in terms of speed and
area requirement for various filter specifications. RNS based FIR filters operate more than
three times faster and consumes only about 60% of the area than traditional filter when
number of filter taps is more than 32. The area for RNS filter is increasing at a lesser rate than that for traditional resulting in lower power consumption. RNS is a nonweighted number system without carry propogation between different residue digits. This enables simultaneous parallel processing on all the digits resulting in high speed addition and multiplication in the RNS domain
