The International Conference on Advances in Polymer Technology-APT ’08, the seventh in the series, is being organised jointly by the Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology(PSRT), Cochin University of Science and Technology and Indian Rubber Institute(IRI), a professional body of the Indian rubber industry. In this conference equal thrust will be given to academic research and industrial applications. The key objective of the conference is the establishment of greater rapport between the industry and the academia.
The Department of Polymer Science and Rubber Technology is one of the pioneer institutions in India to offer full-fledged B. Tech and M. Tech courses. The Department has contributed immensely to the growth of the polymer industry in the country. It is a matter of great pride that the alumni of the Department are occupying key positions of the leading polymer industries in the country and abroad. The Department is also very active in research in frontier areas of polymer technology such as conducting polymers, nanocomposites, photorefractive polymers and biodegradable polymers. Currently there are 36 research scholars pursuing their Ph.D.
The technical sessions consisting of Oral and Poster Presentations will together cover about 75 scientific papers and 17 invited lectures by eminent scientists/researchers from India and abroad.
The presentationsl cover the following major areas:
- Composites- nano, micro and macro.
- Novel applications
- Polymer blends
- Conducting polymers
- New compounding ingredients
- Biodegradable polymers
- Processing and rheology
- Modelling and simulation
- Adhesives and coatings
